Our book vending machine proudly visible in the entrance to the school was officially launch in September 2023. The machine is part of our commitment to get more people reading. Students have the opportunity to earn reward tokens by accumulating merits and other positive behaviour events. One reward token = one book.
There is a wide range of titles in the vending machine and none of the books are on the school curriculum – this is about building a love of reading for pleasure and proving there is a book for everyone.
We are grateful to North of Tyne Combined Authority, Alnwick Town Council, Northumberland Estates and all the local supporters who donated to The Open Book Project which has enabled us to purchase the vending machine and an initial stock of books.
